The British Council and Cambridge English Language Assessment (formerly known as UCLES) launched the International English Language Testing System in 1980. For consumers applying for visas both inside and outside the UK, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has only approved the IELTS Secure English Language Test.
The oldest of the bunch is the Test of English as a Foreign Language, created by the worldwide non-profit organization ETS (Educational Testing Service). They put it into effect in 1964 to ensure that applicants to US universities could speak English.
Prior to its widespread acceptance, the TOEFL was mostly accepted by US-based universities.
Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program. The test is conducted by Paragon Testing Enterprises, a division of the University of British Columbia (UBC). There are two variations of the CELPIP test: CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS. With the purchase of the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment in June 2015, Paragon Testing Enterprises terminated the CELPIP-Academic Test. A tool for evaluating English language proficiency called CELPIP assesses speaking, reading, writing, and listening abilities.
For non-native English speakers who want to pursue studies overseas, Pearson offers the Academic version of its academic English language course on computers. In addition to a multi-level test, there are tests for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Each of the General test’s six levels is based on a CEFR level, and there are a total of six levels. DIFFERENT TEST FORMATS
IELTS uses a single interview to assess speaking and listening skills.
Speaking replies, essays, and multiple-choice questions are all part of the TOEFL’s traditional American style.
PTE, the most recent arrival into the field, consists of an essay that is required to be written before moving on to other activities and questions.
The CELPIP General Test measures skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. The CELPIP General LS Test measures solely Listening and Speaking.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL AND DURATION
IELTS gives you the choice to compose your essay, however, the outcome may be skewed because humans are involved and the test lasts for two hours and 45 minutes.
Although the TOEFL is a longer exam with a length of four hours and a multiple-choice format, its difficulty level is medium.
The 3-hour PTE is thought to be easier because it is a computer-based test that provides unbiased findings.
The average CELPIP exam lasts three hours, whereas the one-hour CELPIP General LS is a condensed form of the exam that is exclusively offered in Canada and does not include reading or writing.
Australian or British English.
In Europe and Australia, an IELTS score is more likely to be accepted.
American universities accept the TOEFL in American English more favorably.
Despite being somewhat more recent in the field, American English PTE is recognized throughout Europe and Australia.
However, it is also available in China, India, and the Philippines. Currently, it is only available in Canada and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
